From 2020, we are now diesel electric with two electric motors and all mechanical units are electric. That's why we are much more sustainable.
SHIP
M/S Sagafjord is future-proofed and has been upgraded:
- Two new electric motors, each delivering 210 HP
- Two new diesel generators with latest environmental protection systems
- New switchboards and electrical installations
- New axles and screws and a new additional stern thruster
- Extended sundeck, moving the liferafts to the chimney area
- Extensive steel work carried out on the bottom and hull
- Undergone extensive varnishing and painting work
SUSTAINABILITY
M/S Sagafjord has become more sustainable and:
- Reduced fuel by 52% and everything is now electric
- Reduces NOx emissions by 80% and soot particles by 93%.
- Has become an asbestos-free workplace
- Gas has been removed and the ship's stove is now induction
- Dismantled the oil boiler and changed to "air to water heat exchanger system" for central heating and hot water
- Is painted with yacht bottom paint, which is less harmful to the environment

Payment
We accept cash and credit cards. Payments made with foreign credit cards are subject to the credit card company’s fee
Parking & transportation
It is possible to park in the large parking lot at the Viking Ship Museum. Come in good time, the parking lot is used by many. Bus 203 & 207 run from Roskilde Station to the port.
Disabled people
We welcome people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users, but unfortunately the ship’s doors are too narrow for electric wheelchairs. When booking a table, please let us know if there are people with walking difficulties or wheelchair users in your party – we will take this into account when placing the table.
Dogs
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on board Sagafjord (guide dogs excepted).
